Casino Gaming on the Floor

We are Alberta’s only casino resort in the Rocky Mountains. That location shapes the whole visit - it feels more like a mountain stop with gaming than a standard city casino run.

On the gaming floor, you will find 300+ slot machines in different denominations and formats, operating daily from 10 AM to 4 AM. Table games and poker are just off the main slot area, with table games running from 2 PM to 3 AM, so you can move between them without crossing the building. The primary floor is non-smoking, which a lot of guests prefer. For players who do smoke, there is a separate smoking slot room at the back.

Our poker area runs Texas Hold’em cash games on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7 PM, with Texas Hold’em Poker Tournaments held on the first and third Sunday of every month. Schedules and formats can change, so it is important to check before you drive out. You can reach the poker desk at 403-881-2832 or by email at [email protected] if you want to confirm what is running that day.

We participate in Winner’s Edge, Alberta’s first province-wide casino loyalty program, available at all 28 Alberta casinos and racing entertainment centres. Any status or points you earn with us connect to the same program across the province, so an existing card from another Alberta casino works here as well. While you play, we keep complimentary self-serve coffee, tea, and water available on the floor. It is basic, but handy for long sessions.

Getting Here and Getting Started

Our address is 888 Nakoda Way, Mînî Thnî, Alberta, T0L 1N0. We sit just off the Trans-Canada Highway, around 30 minutes west of Calgary and about 40 minutes east of Banff. You can see the property from the highway, so it becomes a natural break point if you are heading between the city and the mountain parks.

We offer free surface parking for guests. You do not need any special reservation or hotel booking to enter the casino; both overnight guests and day visitors go directly to the floor.

It is worth coming in with a clear idea of how much you plan to spend on a session. Setting a personal gaming budget in advance tends to make the visit more relaxed and helps you manage your own limits. That applies here and at any other casino.

For a first visit, the basic flow is simple:

  1. Exit the Trans-Canada Highway onto Nakoda Way and park in the free lot.
  2. Come in through the main lobby and follow the signs that point toward the casino.
  3. At the casino desk, either register for a Winner’s Edge card or present your existing card.
  4. Decide where to start: the main slot area, the table games, or the poker room.
  5. For poker sessions, it is safer to call 403-881-2832 in advance to check the schedule.
  6. Use the self-serve coffee, tea, and water on the floor whenever you want a short pause.
  7. Before heading out, look over the promotions board or ask staff about upcoming events.

Dining and On-Site Facilities

We have two main dining spots on the property. The Ridge Restaurant offers all-day dining, with a full menu suited to sit-down meals for both hotel guests and visitors who are only here for the casino. Sidelines Lounge functions more as a sports bar, with drinks, casual food, and screens showing games. Both venues are open to walk-ins, so you do not need to be staying at the hotel.

Our indoor pool area includes a waterslide and a hot tub. There is a fitness center for guests who want a workout, plus an arcade and game room that can help keep kids occupied. In winter, guests using us as a base for Kananaskis Country can make use of our ski storage. Free self-parking is available for all of these facilities, and oversized vehicles can still park in the main lot.

We sit about 2.2 miles from Bow Valley Provincial Park and close to the Kananaskis River, near the entrance to Kananaskis Country. Because of that, a lot of guests use the resort both for gaming and as a base for hiking, rafting, or ski trips, not just as a standalone casino visit. The property is open year-round, making it a practical destination across all seasons. We have also partnered with Alpine Helicopters Inc. to put together helicopter sightseeing packages. Those can be arranged either via our team or by going to the operator directly, depending on what is easier for you.

Events, Weddings, and Corporate Bookings

Our Event Centre is set up to handle corporate retreats, meetings, weddings, and social events. On our official website, you will find separate sections for EVENTS, CORPORATE, and WEDDING bookings. Each section outlines how the packages are structured and what is included. Audiovisual support and catering are available through our on-site teams for meetings, workshops, or conference-style formats.

Wedding packages use the mountain scenery as a featured backdrop, with indoor ceremony and reception spaces so you are not dependent on the weather. Couples, event planners, and corporate organizers can talk through details with us by emailing [email protected] or calling +1 403-881-2830. For sponsorship requests or marketing collaborations, the right contact is [email protected].

Location, Regulation, and Contact

Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino is located on Stoney Nakoda (Îyârhe Nakoda) First Nation territory at the entrance to Kananaskis Country. Our name reflects this cultural and territorial connection. As Alberta’s only casino in the Rocky Mountains, we operate within the provincial framework overseen by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). It is important to remember that all gaming on-site follows these regulations.

From Calgary, the drive is about half an hour. From Banff, plan on roughly 40 minutes. The property is easy to spot from the Trans-Canada Highway, so it works as a straightforward pull-off for drivers traveling in either direction.
